Writing Task - Moana (T3 W10)

 ~ Moana ~

Moana is a story that takes place around the beautiful Pacific, centered around a young princess, Moana, and the mischievous demigod Maui.

Your task today is to use METAPHORICAL language to describe the people, and places from the movie.Metaphorical language means that we have made a comparison between the thing we are describing,

 and something we all recognise.

Let’s look at 3  different types of metaphorical language… 

Type of Metaphorical Language	How we use it	Example	What I really mean.
METAPHOR	A metaphor is when you say something IS something else.	“Mr Hughes is a teddy bear”	This means Mr Hughes is friendly, and cuddly.
SIMILE	A simile is when you say something is LIKE or AS something else.	“Mr Hughes is as ugly as a crushed pineapple”	Mr Hughes looks like a crushed pineapple
PERSONIFICATION	A personification gives human qualities to something non-human.	“The wind whistled through the trees”	The noise of the wind sounded like somebody whistling.

Your job is to use METAPHORS, SIMILES, AND PERSONIFICATION to describe these things from the movie Moana.

Use 3 examples of Metaphorical Language to describe…	What do they look like?	How do they act/behave?
	Long, wavy, beautiful hair.  Thick eyebrows. Light brown eye colour. Pretty smile. Loves her people and island. To be honest she looks like a teddy bear.	Brave, Kind, Strong. She acts brave because she always wants to try new things. She acts kind everyday! She acts strong when she loses someone.
	Long curly hair. Bulky. Many magical tattoos. Big smirk. Loves shiny things. To be honest he looks like The Rock's Grandfather.	He acts like he can do things on his own. He acts nice I guess and helpful. ‘Helpful for helping Moana for once’.
	He looks like a weird rooster.  He looks strange. To be honest for this one it just looks like a rooster that is dumb. He also doesn’t really look like a rooster.	Dumb, strange and weird. He acts like that for me because he acts weird and his eyes make it even weirder.
	Beautiful. Helpful.  Long curly hair. Big beautiful smile. Loves nature. She looks the exact same as Moana but older.	Angry, kind, joyful. She acts angry when you get into her nerves or you steal her heart. Acts kind if you are kind to her or return her heart. Joyful when she sees nature.
