→ Because he wanted to know where fire comes from. While everyone was sleeping Maui went to every and each village to grab all of their fire. Maui set off to search for Mahuika. Maui was curious again about what would happen if all of Mahuikas fire nails were gone.

6. Explain how fire came back to the humans in the story.

→ Maui and his brothers went to grab some kaikōmako branches. They showed the villagers how to make a fire by getting a sharp tool and putting it in the centre. All the villagers were really happy that they get to cook their food for their mokopunas, get warm at night and see light.

7. Why do you think fire is so important to mankind?

→Fire helps us by keeping us warm throughout the night. Cooking kai for your mokopunas or for yourself. It also helps you at night when it is dark. Fire can really help is throughout when we are camping or hunting.
